well at the moment I am really into paranormal romances etc. The ones with vampires and shapeshifters in them. Really good. But I also enjoy books by Kathy Reichs, Tami Hoag, Meg Gardener and anything by Nora Roberts. |

I enjoy psychological suspense and police proceedurals, some historical fiction, some science fiction. Any Ruth Rendell, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell. I've just discovered a new (to me) author, Peter Lovesey who does British police; just finished The House Sitter and have 2 others of his on hold at the library; he's very prolific so I won't run out of reading matter for a while. Laura Joh Rowland: historical Japanese series, very interesting,James Clavell: Shogun, the Noble House..China in the Opium war period; Edward Rutherfurd - Sarum..historical England; Anne McCaffrey's Pern series.....why? All good reads, takes you out of the here and now.. Stop me, I could go on for hours.... |

I love crime thrillers; my fave authors of the moment are James Patterson, Minette Walters and Nicci French. I'm also really into Jodi Picoult - her books are amazing. I've read them all to date apart from her latest one, Change of Heart, which I have here to read when I've finished my present book. She writes about really emotive topics, real to life, and has a fantastic style. Highly recommend her books. |

I have come to realise that I enjoy books most where parts of storylines or characters keep popping back into my head from time to time for quite a long while after I have finished them. You could say that these following books have that certain "haunting" quality that I find more enjoyable than other books that I might read just to "get away" (does that make any sense?): Blackberry Wine - Joanne Harris Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Susanna Clarke The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell Pompeii - Robert Harris Gould's Book of Fish - Richard Flanagan |
