Off to clear the snow from the back path before it freezes tonight tomorrow and snows again leathal to elderly parents who insist on goignup the garden for some unfathomable reasons....Lord knows why they keep popping out there but everytime I come back I see new tracks and it can only be them.

Re: Wintery Wednesday

I hope Robert's tooth calms down a bit Alex.

Well we had a small amount of snow in Essex overnight, decided to go to work - bad move. It started to snow quite heavily so we decided to close the office and work from home.

Had a terrible journey home which is only about 15 miles, local road you couldn't go any faster than 5mph without the car sliding all over the place and the A120 to Braintree from Stansted was terrible - only one lane open and you could only go about 30mph - didn't look like it had been gritted at all (I did see a snow plough on the other carriageway) - let a poor person stuck on the slip road onto the A120 as I had trouble getting onto it from the slip road myself.

Got home about 10.30 - OH is leaving work soon - he has got about 20 miles to drive - hopefully the A12 will be clear. Luckily I have managed to do a lot of work from home and I am not going to work tomorrow unless it has cleared. Since I have been home we have had a lot more snow.

Stay safe and warm everybody

Re: Wintery Wednesday

Glad you got home safely Emma, hope your OH doesn't have too horrible a journey, it's not nice out there! (pretty, but not nice!) It's been snowing lightly all day in Hampshire and it's just started getting heavy again, we've got about 30cms (12 inches) out there now. We've had a couple of short power-cuts too, I've got the candles ready!

Re: Wintery Wednesday

What dreadful weather you all are suffering! Makes me feel a bit guilty complaining of just the bitter cold here. It's not as bad today, we might get above freezing for the first time in weeks, woo hoo! Presently -2 (29 F), and some tentative sunshine. Am still staying inside today; getting a ride to the market tomorrow with Carolyn and can stock up as it may snow Friday, ugh. What a horrid Winter so far.

Poor Robert, toothache is horrible. Angie, just looked up the bullfinch, what a handsome bird; reminds me a bit of our robin: red breast, black head. Glad everyone is in and safe, do stay warm and don't venture out if you can. The January thaw should be here by April!!

Ih you're bored indoors, the quiz will be back at 8 pm tonight after the holiday break ... all welcome!

Re: Wintery Wednesday

Evening all, got a few dogs walked today before the snow made it hard to drive. Also managed to get Rayne to the vet for her second jabs, kennel cough and micro chip, she was an absolute angel both in the van and at the vets. In two weeks she has gone from 3.8 kg to 4.11 kg but extremely healthy as a pup should be
Eva and Bernie are now ganging up against Rayne and tormenting her, the monkeys. It seems to have brought Eva and Bernie that little bit closer to eachother too. Got a few snaps on my phone of them sitting watching Rayne from the arm of the sofa, they NEVER sit that close together.
7 inches of snow due to fall here tonight and the temp predicted to be as low as -8
