Wintery Wednesday

Well its Wednesday and it wintery hence thought that would be a good description.
So here we are again a few of us snowed in a few trapped due to the schools being off, and a few who don't have to go out at all like me. Day off.

The snow has goneup a couple of inches here over night and its snowing again as I type this nothing heavy like yesterday but a constant flurry.

The main road is still runnig well as it can (being a bus route) kids seem to be going to school no one's come back yet that I can see.

Take care all and stay upright and dry.

Re: Wintery Wednesday

I think most of the schools are closed here and the car is marooned out on the road. We can't get to the office (thank heaven for web-based email and management systems) and I'm going to brave the snow later and walk into town to see if I can find this elusive toboggan for the boys.

Other than that, not sure what I'll be doing - keeping the peace between two bored boys (once they've had their fill of the snow that is).

Re: Wintery Wednesday

We've got about 20-25 cms (8-10 inches) of snow here, it started at 6pm yesterday and it's still snowing but it's fine stuff today compared with the big, fluffy flakes of yesterday evening.

The electrician unloaded his van into our garage before he left yesterday as he expected having to walk here today and knew he wouldn't be able to carry all his gear. Good job he did that as no traffic is moving at all, even the main road is not clear, good job too that we employed a local man who lives within walking distance! No newspaper yet, OH has popped out to see if he can get one, he knows I suffer withdrawal symptoms if I don't get my daily crossword fix!

Stay indoors everyone if you can, it's not a day for venturing out.

Re: Wintery Wednesday

Morning, It's snowing here still.
Kids are off as their school is closed. Luckily I can work from home, so I'm doing that today.
Right, better get on with some work.
Have a good day. I wonder if Alex has had any snow yet?

Re: Wintery Wednesday

Alex reporting in to say that she has indeed had some snow lol . Only a couple of inches, but better than nothing. The kids were gutted to find out that the schools are all open here. So they'll have to wait until after school to build their snowman

We're awaiting delivery of a new tv today at some point, Robert will be most unpleased if it doesn't arrive . Off out into the back garden in a bit, to see how the ferrets like the snow!

Re: Wintery Wednesday

We've had about 6 inches here and more heavy snow fall this morning, but atm it's those little icy bits that aren't rain and not sleet, sort of icy granules .......... funny stuff.

I was going to make a snowman, but it was snowing hard when I went out with the OH and the cats to feed the birds and take some pictures, which I'll post later. I'll wait for a bit perhaps. I do have trouble though as my calves are too fat for my welly boots!!!

Keep warm and dry peeps. So glad you've got a bit of snow Alex.

Re: Wintery Wednesday

Well its got to be bad if its reaching X files land (aka Alex) who should tell Robert the TV may not get through the rest of the real world is struggling....Teleford is just weird.

Here I go out to get a few bits and pieces to see us over and some shopping for some older neighbours save them going out.

Back later the dog adores it. Have fun snowman building schools around here still open so not too bad and most of the kids live within walking distance too.

Got my walking boots out for the first time in ages hoping the grip is better than just wellies.

Re: Wintery Wednesday

It snowed overnight here and we were greeted with 15-18cms of it this morning....... and it's still falling now.

Managed to get to the shops earlier and picked up a few essentials for my neighbour at the same time. No doubt it will be treacherous walking tomorrow after it freezes tonight.

Cassie won't go out today, I don't blame her as it must be freezing for their little paws.

Take care everyone, we don't want any reports of broken bones!

Re: Wintery Wednesday

The TV isn't coming lol! Poor Robert doesn't care though, he's in utter agony with a tooth that needs to be pulled, but after the reaction he took on the dentist chair a month or so back, they are very reluctant to try and pull it without him being in hospital. I've got him an emergency appointment for tomorrow, and I think they'll just have to try, his face is swelling up!

Re: Wintery Wednesday

I am sorry to hear about Robert the TV's toothache, Alex. You are good to make an emergency appointment for him.

I have just seen a bullfinch in the garden. OH called me from the lounge and I had time to get the binoculars out and have a good look before he flew away (the bullfinch, not OH!). What a handsome bird - I have never seen one in our garden before today.
