Re: Brrrrrrr ..... no thanks!

Mags, Washington is famous. or infamous, for not coping with snow! An inch has the government, schools and most private companies closing early, with consequent mammoth traffic jams, overloaded subways and buses tied up in traffic! It would be funny if it weren't so awful...there used to be an old joke during the Cold War years that the perfect time for the Russians to attack would be at the beginning of a snowstorm! One year when we had a bad storm, I got off work at 5 (Scrooge boss wouldn't let us off early) and I didn't get home until, and I'm not kidding, midnight! This was a normal 1/2 hour bus ride. We do not cope well with snow.......

The stores always get a run on milk, bread, and of all things, toilet paper whenever a decent snow is predicted...it has become such a local laughingstock that one of the TV weatherpersons has what he calls the "Bread-O-Meter..like a thermometer thing, so if it's a moderate snow, it might show 2 loaves, a really bad forecast (panic!!!) ..would be 6 loaves...you get the picture. As you know, I was born and raised here, and it's always been like this...people from really snowy places like Maine or Minnesota laugh at us,,,embarrassing...
