Re: We're getting a fire...

I'd not be without a fire now - preferably a woodburner! So easy, lights immediately, only requires ash removed about 3-4 times a year and pumps out heat like crazy.
Failing that I'd go back to a living flame gas fire (which is what we thought we were going to buy when we actually did a complete 180 degree turn to get the woodburner.)

Enjoy yours when you get it Smudgley

Re: We're getting a fire...

I adore our open fires. However a bit of a necessity as hubby hasn't put central heating in the sitting rooms

They're not really too much trouble at all, 10 minutes once a week to sweep out the ash and you're done. You'll love it Smudgely - it just brings a room to life Just watch out you don't trip over the cats lining themselves up to get nice and warm infront of it

BTW, Mags WHAT are those chestnuts doing

I was a bit worried about the chestnuts behaviour too.

Is it anything to do with this?

A chess tournament was in being held and contestants from around the world were in the lobby of the hotel bragging about other tournaments they had won. After awhile, the hotel manager came out of the office and asked them to please leave.
'But why?' they asked, as they moved off.
'Because', he said, 'I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer.'

I believe that word has a new meaning now though, which would be quite appropriate.

I had a "real" fire in my house before Derek days. I loved it! Funny I still miss it in the winter.
