We're getting a fire...

There's never been a fire of any type in this property whilst we've lived here.
As most of you know we had some alterations done last year (I must post the photos one day) anyway we used the "new dining room" as our bedroom whilst we did some bits & pieces. But we both really like the "new dining room" as our bedroom, so we've decided to keep that as our bedroom & use the "big old bedroom" as the dining room / sitting room & we are going to open the fireplace up & have a real fire in there.

I'm quite excited at the thought of real flames! We had a lovely big log burner in our last house.

Bet winter will be over though by the time we do it, too many more important jobs to do first. But it will be nice for next winter.

There's nothing more cheery than an a real fire ........ the gentle crackle, wonderful warmth. Get yourself a long toasting fork too, Smudgley...... nothing beats toast done on an open fire!

That's going to be lovely come Fall to have a real fire....I haven't used mine in ages' chimney needs sweeping and just never get around to it....

I love to see open fires, although they do strike me as quite high management

A real fire, that will be lovely. We have a 'living flame' gas fire which is nice, but not quite as good as the real thing.

not really high maintenace fran. Obviously there's the wood / coal to store, but other than that I'd say a lot easier than people would think to clean etc.

I have a gas "real flame" fire. On at the moment - a must have in my opinion!!!

I used to have a real fire a few years ago when I lived in Aberdeen. I absolutely loved it!! It was so nice to sit there on a cold winters night and here that coal or logs crackling and watching the flames. Hypnotic!!
