Re: What was your childhood ambition?

When I was very young I was given a book for Christmas one year called "The Nature Lover's Companion". Inside there was a double spread picture of a farm, illustrated as looking down on it. It depicted the farmhouse, barns, silo and all the usual farm animals.....cows, sheep, pigs, horses, ducks and chickens....plus the farmers wife carrying the milk. I was absolutely besotted with that picture and convinced myself that when I grew up I would like my own farm.....

I grew up and unfortunately never achieved my dream

Re: What was your childhood ambition?

Like Fran, I wanted to join the Police but didn't quite grow tall enough to meet the height requirement which existed then.
At one point, when I was in the Sixth Form, I had a mad moment when I thought I'd like to be a forensic scientist. Fortunately that passed! Just as well because I was doing completely the wrong A levels, not a science subject among them!! I think I'd got the idea from a television series of the time called "The Expert" (this was long before CSI, by the way!)

Re: What was your childhood ambition?

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a vet the I decided a vet nurse would suit me better. I got as far as starting the course but fell ill and had to stop. Which left me devastated.
Anyway I drifted through jobs for a bit and then decieded the running my own cattery would be great and that is th dream I am following at the moment. Which looks like it will come true in the next few months.

Once again I am the boring one, all I ever wanted was to marry and have a family, no ambition I am afraid...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that ambition Pat! And you are one of the few who have fulfilled your dream!

It's sad that in todays world women are put down for 'just' wanting a family and home. When you think of the many skills it takes to raise children and run a household, it is truly astonishing. Well done to you for living the life you wanted.
