Hmmmm, I think this will be a quite a different story come winter

Re: Wednesday Daily Thread

Bit of an update..

Mum got home and had her medication. She is having a bit of a sleep before going back up to London with my brother.

My dad is going to have some scans done and if he is not too bad they will move him to their local hospital.

I cant get up there at the moment as he is only allowed 2 visitors and there is no car parking so have to get the train to London (no money).

I am hoping the scans prove he can be moved and he will be taken to a better location so it will be more feasible to get to see him.

Sounds so callous that I am not there... my mum and brother seem to be putting people off going, and my sister is being her usual opinionated self so feel I cant go against what everyone is expecting..

Donna it does not sound callous at all. Hopefully your Dad will be moved soon and then you'll get the chance to see him. Take Care xxx

Re: Wednesday Daily Thread

Afternoon all
bit diaspointing today. Went to the Doc for my normall script. Asked for new tabs that help stop smoking and he said the lothian health board wont prescribe them as they are too expensive. I'm trying to get them online. Mind you if I lived in Fife or Aberdeen I would be able to get them!!

The sun has just popped through the clouds so that may lift my mood. Oh and I have a chest infection.

Re: Wednesday Daily Thread

Donna, I think most hospitals only allow 2 visitors to start with, once they have assessed the seriousness ot the patients condition, they are sometimes a bit more lenient. It doesn't sound callous at all so don't feel guilty about not being there.

What we used to do if 4 or 5 went in to visit, two went in for say half an hour, then came out and let the others go in.

I hope you get some favourable news with the results of the scans.
Glad your Mum was able to get home for her medication.

it has been a lovely day here today,I havnt seen it though been in bed

Yes Fran I think the soking ban is going to hit the pubs hard in the winter. My mom has a pub and hasnt really seen any difference yet other than NO ONE,sits inside the pub anymore, even all the non smokers have moved to sitting out side with the smokers looks good on the pub though when people drive past and see how busy it looks out side!

Hope you have all had a lovely day

Donna, glad your Dad's a bit better and that your Mum's had her medication. Sending (((hugs))) to you and your family as well as good wishes......
Re the smoking ban: we only go to restaurants here in the City with an outdoor dining area since the smoking ban went into effect; in the Winter we have to go to Virginia which has the sensible policy of leaving it up to the restaurant owner,,,let the market decide....
Summer is here in it's full glory: 90sF all week with lots of sun; the meterologists on TV are all complaining about the "heat wave"....hey, guys, it's Summer in Washington..
Enjoy the afternoon, all!
