Re: tears in reception

Smudgley your girls are a credit to you....they are smashing girls...no wonder you are proud of them. And good on Lucy and her friend Olivia (lovely name that) for being so nice to him.

It does seem a long day for a little one to go to Afterschool club too. You don't realise sometimes do you how lucky your own are.

Maybe he was a bit mixed up and wasn't going to afterschool today, but when his Dad does work away. You know how children are .... Sophie told her teacher when she was about 6 she coudn't go home as they had moved and she couldn't go when in actual fact her Aunt was moving and while her Mom and Dad were helping with the move while the children including Sophie were at school.

Re: tears in reception

Well done to your daughter and her friend Smudgely. It must be so confusing for a small child going into a new environment . . . at least (thank God) Dominik will be entering reception amongst children and surroundings he has known for 2 years, but for a 'newbie' 4-year-old; scary indeed

BC - yes to a certain extent govt is to blame, but mostly people in this country will not coutenance a 30% + rate of taxation which would make it possible for parents to work shorter hours or for more acceptable kinds of out of school care to exist. This is a cheapskate country. Look at the hoards that shop in low cost retail environments to the detriment of UK farmers, manufacturers and even the other, corner shop retailers that they all profess to love so much but who they are helping to drive out of business!!!

You get what you pay for - fact!!

It's just as bad here, Yola! And we don't even have universal health coverage!
