Re: Does anyone else??

I've never gotten a crackle sound, but the fur standing on end bit happens now and then when the air is very dry and the static electricity is I guess you would say high....

Re: Does anyone else??

I often get static by brushing my own hair (let alone poor Merlin's) and I can use the brush like a magnet and get my hair to almost stand up straight. It's strange because the brush is real bristle and has a wooden handle so I really don't understand how this works. Any electricians out there?

Dandysmom is right about the dry air caused by central heating - it is always worse in the winter.

The late Parsley was like that-in case of a power cut just comb him and the room lit up-never seemed to bother him though

Re: Does anyone else??

I have never been any good at physics - in fact, the secondary school I went to didn't actually have physics on their curriculum - we had something called General Science, which consisted of biology (we had a brilliant biology teacher); chemistry - you only had to be able to draw aperatus, and physics - only one question needed to be answered in the "O" level exam.

Anyway, I digress! Found this website that explains static electricity - enjoy!!!

Re: Does anyone else??

Thanks for that link! Now I get it...makes sense when explained

We didn't have physics in secondary school either: biology which I adored and chemistry...ugh, the less said the better...
