Re: Saturday daily

What a pity they had to learn the hard way, it must have been frightening to see their faces swell up like that....

Re: Saturday daily

I've seen quite a few very large bumble bees - I presume they are queens looking for somewhere to lay their eggs. I think bumble bees are solitary, but I may be wrong.

Sorry I haven't posted much the last few days. Merlin is not very well atm. I know I have panicked before so I don't want to make a habit of it! I am giving him slippery elm as recommended by Elaine - he hasn't been sick since. I have to syringe it for him and even though he is an old cat, it is still a two person job! I know you are all here and I expect I will need your special support before much longer.

Re: Saturday daily

Oh dear, Angie; hope this is just a little blip and that dear Uncle Merlin will feel better soon. Thinking of you both....

As far as I know bumblebees are solitary. We have large carpenter bees here, they are very numerous in the Spring....they like to excavate holes in wood and my back fence is apparently a location they love...dozens of them buzzing about and lots of holes in the wood! They make me quite nervous (I'm allergic to bee/wasp stings), but they're not aggressive at all to people.... very much so to each other! " I was here first and this is my territory, so buzz off!!"
