Dawn.
I never said it was a 'small' community, and if it was a large community it shouldn't make any difference, the definition of community would still be the same, small or large. Catsey is defined as a place for 'cat lovers', not 'animal welfare'. It should and does play a large part of this board, but in my opinion we are here primarily because we are cat lovers. Perhaps the reason newcomers do not stay is the judgemental way in which some are treated, it has certainly made me wary and uncomfortable

And this is the fault of the forum being too sickly nice. We need to be able to feel comfortable saying "I think it is wrong you have let your cat have kittens" when most of us post "aww cute kittens".

We are all being hypocritical. Which is why people dont stay on this forum and it is still relatively small.

I agree Donna

Well said Donna.

Define Cat lover het?

Someone who purposely allows their pet to be impregnated by a Cat they do not know, (or it appears in Lukes case a Cat he DOES know) a Cat that stands MORE than a fair chance of carrying lethal diseases which it can pass to the female cat and its kittens? Or one that keeps their Cat safe untill which time finances, circumstances allow them to have the animal neutered?

Re: Heartbreaking

Donna - I came here from a US forum that was 'loosely' cat-related. The bitching and back stabbing that went on there totally shocked me; as did the blantantly fascist comments by many members.

By the same token I felt Catsey (Cat Pages) was very nice . . . almost too nice and you're right, I've kind of stepped back from being as outspoken as I usually am and adopted a much softer approach.

Let's have this discussion, agree to disagree or indeed agree to agree - we know the right answer is NOT to breed cats irresponsibly. We must acknowledge accidents happen and we really should not pillory people when these genuine accidents occur. Conversley where it is clear that people are taking the pi$$ we should as a community, make it clear to them that we don't feel their actions are acceptable. We don't need to be abusive, but we need to make our stance clear.

I don't want to pass comment on Luke or anyone else as I'm not 100% in posession of the facts . . . but PLEASE do not let this degenerate any further into a horrible, bitter and personal fued that will cause valued members to leave us for good.

Re: Heartbreaking

Cool. It seems so obvious to me where we need to go with the forum. Glad some of you are seeing things the same way.

But it is down to all the members to be able to say what they feel in an adult like manner. And for members to be able to take criticism when it is due without storming off in a strop!!

Re: Heartbreaking

I wasnt going to comment, what with not being here and so many things going on in my own personal life, but feel I have too.....

This is so sad, the ones who feel this forum is not right - you are free to leave, no one is holding the door closed, but please no one leave just because you have your own personal feelings on a subject.

I only use this Forum I would not and do not want to join any other, as you know I have my own Daughter who comes on here, I notice she is missing tonight, I am glad in a way, I would not want her to be witness to the bitching and bad mouthing.

Az - can you please close these posts, I for one, would like the people who have become friends to still be here when I return.

I will not leave the forum just because I think it is not quite right. I will stay and hope in time we will all grow up a bit and realise there are good and bad things going on in the world which need to be talked about.

I think it is wrong to delete this thread. It is not nasty. It is good that we can all get things out in the open. I am sorry you feel your daughter should not read such things, but I would be happy for my daughter to see me taking part in a healthy debate without the need to throw insults.

Its called being in the real world and we all have to take part.

Re: Heartbreaking

I wonder if we have a bit of a split of opinion because some members, BorderDawn, Elaine etc see some of these litters of kittens as irresponsible breeding whereas other members see it more for what we want it to be, an accident, and are too ready to believe what some of the members tell us and want to see the good in everybody. I am not saying that those particular members are lying in anyway, but a lot of us do not see the heartache that irresonsible breeding can have.

Also I am sure a lot of us would agree that if there was a member who was breeding moggies (more than one litter) wouldn't we all condone this??? Have we had any members who have actually had more than one litter from a moggie?? I cannot think of one member but I might be wrong.
