Heartbreaking

Well I have come in from work and find WWIII has pretty much broken out we (catsey members) have managed to cause at least 4 fellow members say they are leaving, at least it seems from the posts 6/7 fellow members spend some time in tears.
And it seems possibly we have now broken a support network I thought was almost tangible.

People are it seems been "had a go at" via PM. - I do not think this is fair or just so whoever you are have a go at me if you will because I too think letting a cat - all but a kitten roam without being spayed is disgraceful. I cannot and do do not blame Luke, he is a child and adults should be responsible.
However Luke choose to mention Bella's condition in a round about way. Therefore in effect opening the flood gates as every one is entitled to an opnion and to voice it in a reasonable way.

Some people have been made to feel they have no choice but to leave. To stand up for their principles.

This has all happened because people cannot debate/talk abouta subject that is so close to their hearts, without upset been caused on one or both sides.

We all support Smudgley's work and say how sad about the kittens/the cats/yet we happily also support the fact members have unplanned litters. I have had 3 cats over the last 26 yeasr as an adult and not litter/accident due to having my cats neutued/spayed ASAP.

If I ever get another cat he/she will also be neutured/spayed not hard and as I have already said CPL give out voichers will assist with neuturing/spaying and their are cheap clinics doing the same.

But I will not turn this into a personal tirade/lecture.

However I will say if we loose such valued and respected members such as Elaine and Alex over this the board will be a sad sad place and a sad day for catsey. I visit this board daily and rarely visit others, and think we have a t the moment a choice in which way we turn. We have a chance to repair the damage done life is too short to fall out.
And I ask thos who are leaving to reconsider you cannot score a goal if you have left the field.

I am totaly saddened. Yet if we are becoming a board that condones "the inner circle" and others not daring to question/voice an opinion without others "having a go" at them; Then that is not something I wish to be part of either.

We have a choice, Karen

Re: Heartbreaking

Well said Karen. Its a shame Luke felt he couldn't just come out and say what had happened. I have already said that.
As for what other Cat Forum's think of Catsey who gives a stuff!!!
Were all here for eachother old or new. I have said it before and I'll say it again. It's not an ideal world, when it is these things wont happen.
In my mind nobody has the right to judge an other person young or old.

That was probably aimed at me, so I will answer by saying, since joining Catsey, I have put many people this way, many have joined but only one still posts, they say for the most part its the throw away attitude and mass breeding of moggies that puts them off. So I give a stuff Jac, a big one, when people directly state this, I think it reflects badly on Catsey, and nobody wants that.

I have nothing against breeding for the right reasons, I dont think anybody does, I chose pedigree Cats, I chose moggies too, and its my responsibility as a good owner to ensure the safety and wellbeing of them at all times.
Dawn.

Re: Heartbreaking

I don't like it here at the moment - I thought this was a wonderful place, we're all here because we love cats (and other animals), we all care about cats...okay so maybe some of us have slightly different views to others but we all love cats here. We come here to talk about cats and other things in life with our friends...at the moment it's just doesn't feel like how Catsey felt when I joined.

Jac I give a stuff, I have always been proud to be a member of catsey but I have put a couple of people onto this board and they have not stayed, maybe not because of this but I give a stuff.
No one is judging butoffering an opnion as you just have but my opnion is I do not think allowing a unspayed/neutured cat to roam free is responsible.

Re: Heartbreaking

Actually it wasnt but I care not what a neighbour thinks of me or someone I meet in the street. When they start paying my bills, mortgage then yes.

I think Catsey up till now was a friendly family, over time we have got to know people (older members) and getting to know people that are newer.

I have personally asked people from here to my wedding who I have never met but get along with and feel I know. I'm honered that they have accepted.

this has all come about because Luke said Bella was expecting.

Fact. Luke does not work. He's what? 15. Now as a mother I pay for my childrens animals. So it is down to Luke's Mum to pay for Bella's spaying not Luke. Let it go!!!

Re: Heartbreaking

Thankyou Kazz, thats a very nice thing to say and yes the can of worms has once again been opened. If i have been the cause of unpleasantness, I appologise as it was never my intention to be unpleasant but it upsets me deeply and frustrates me enourmously that people seek advice etc but fail to act and all to the detrement of the cat.
I too give a stuff to how Catsey is perceived and have also directed people here, some have stayed and some havent, the ones that havent feel the same as Dawn has described.
Jane I am not having a personal attack on you as I am aware of how young you are and where the responsibility lies of having Patch neutered but you came here, opened up about Patch and were given loads of info to pass on to the relevant people responsible for having him done. Patch in his current state is not only able to impregnate but as he is a fighter and a biter he has the potential to carry and spread disease to all cats that he may come into contact with. It upsets me greatly that your parents havent taken all the info into account because I care about Patch as i care about all cats.
Its unpleasant here because sometimes issues need to be addressed and not swept under the carpet.

Re: Heartbreaking

Jac Bella/luke are in fact the catalyst, to me its not that thats the issue but the fact people are not allowed to state an opinion without being berated.
You know a post about moggies having litters is like a match to a bushfire.
But the fact that everyone is it seems PMing everyone informing people of PM's tittle/tattling for want of better words is what annoys me.
If I had a cat who was a moggie and she was having a litter that I WANTED/ALLOWED her to have then I would not give a toss if people liked the idea or not if I wanted that to happen if it was an accident and not wanted then I would take the route of spaying and aborting the kittens - but that would be my choice - like it or lump it.
'
But people are allowed an opnion and a choice whatever that may be.

Karen
