Lovely! Is Bumble a special breed ... never saw a brown horse with a white mane before; stunning.

Re: The horses yesterday.

Bumble is a noriker, an austrian draught horse. She is Mike's horse as we wanted something that could carry weight but wasn't too tall.
Cirrus is 7/8 arab and 1/8 thoroughbred,
Pixie is a shetland,
we think Pippin has welsh in him
and Bournvile is just a lucky mix- although we suspect there is shire in there somewhere.

Pippen stole my heart when he first arrived with you ......... how is he now, does he enjoy his gallops in the field?

I do like horses, although they do scare me a bit. Bournville looks like a gentle sort. Hasn't Pippin come on well?

Pippin is going out into the sand school for a couple of hours most days, unfortunately he will be confined to the stable for the next 3 days as Mike is away and it takes 2 to catch him.
He got his feet x-rayed on Friday and I think the vets are quite relieved with the outcome. There is some rotation of the hoof, but not as bad as they thought and there is plenty of sole beneath the bone, which is good.
The blacksmith is going to pop in and see the x-rays before he puts on any shoes, but at the moment he is planning to put cytek shoes on the front, a type of shoe which supports the pedal bone. Later he will decide on the best option for the back, luckily they are put on cold, so it will be less stressful for him ( all of us. ) but we will still do the front feet first and the hinds later.
We also got some bloods taken as I am a wee bit concerned he may be pre-cushings, I also want to rule out any liver damage, as we don't know how poor the quality of grazing he was on, but there is the risk there was ragwort therefore liver damage.
He is looking very scruffy at the moment as he is moulting, but will look fantastic when the sleek new coat is in.

The vets were kept busy with us on Friday, Molly the rabbit was in to be speyed, Pippin had his x-rays etc, and they had a look at Violet the goat, who is very thin and arthritic, so she had some bloods taken too and was given some medication for her stiffness. I'm not looking forward to this months bill, I can tell you!
