Eric the Acer

This is for Mags and fellow Acer fans, Eric as you can see he's grown.

That's lovely Kazz and it looks really good amongst the other shrubs

Mine isn't doing so well at the moment...maybe because I am growing it in a pot

Re: Eric the Acer

Thanks both, will get a picture of Eric this week hopefuly. As you can see I have planted him in with the alpines, and Pieries, and put grit round the, all seems to be working (touch wood)

Mags no Acers look good at this time of year honestly they are starting to loose their leaves. But must say I find they really take off when put in the garden rather than a tub regardless of size.
Don't mollycoddle them they are a tough as old boots really.

Whats an acer? I assume you are all talking about the little red tree in the front of the picture. I love gardens but havent a bloody clue about them or plants.
Your garden is lovely Kazz, My cats would love some of those bushes to hide under.

Made a change to the gravel today. Added some sun loving perenials and lifted the gravel rinsed it all through and replaced the black "weedblock" stuff underneath, and relaid the slabs. As they say a change is as good as a rest.

You guess right give the lady a prize. Thankfully the garden is secure from all comers (near enough) to the left is a wall all down, and the bushes are perfect cat play centres.

Re: Eric the Acer

I have a green acer (disectum) in a wooden half barrel, been there for years and I have to admit I do neglect it rather, but I have tried twice with the purple one in an ordinary pot and they both died, I think it is mainly just getting the watering right. I have two acer negundo in pots and they are OK but they are getting too big and will have to be planted out. But where to put them ????? Logoes
