Evocative music

Just watched the preliminaries to the Wales v NZ rugby. The Welsh anthems (Cym Rhonda etc (excuse spelling) ) made me remember a funeral - no, memorial service, we went to for an ex colleague who died suddenly at the stupidly early age of 61. He was Welsh. The service was in the summer, we were instructed not to wear black. We had all those Welsh anthems (but not Delilah! ) at the Church and the boys and girls all just creased and wept. That was midday, a vote was taken, we went to the pub and saw Illtyd off in style.

I can't watch a Welsh match from the Millenium stadium without remembering.

I'm sure I've got good musical memories too (e.g. met the OH when 'would you like to fly in my beautiful balloon' was playing everywhere - yes! we were doomed from the start!!!)

What songs are forever linked with an event/person in your life?

(Eek - a Kazz-type question! Do you think I've been CP/DW too long????? )

Being pure bred WELSH and proud of it I am very disappointed at your remarks

Yes I can take a joke as good as the next person, jeeze I am Welsh after all but I find your remarks very demeaning. 'I want to jeer as well as sneer' is there really any need for that kind of remark?!

And it's Welsh National Anthem NOT Welshers

Going back to DM's question

Sad to say it's the Spice Girls 'If you wanna be my lover' - first song me and hubby danced to on our first date

Re: Evocative music

Oh sorry I didn't answer the question

Amazing Grace - can't/won't say why but makes me cry everytime I hear it sung well that is.

Land Of Hope and Glory - Whenever that is sung it gets to me but especially last night of the proms. Same as "And Did Those Feet in AncientTimes"

New York New York Always reminds me of Christmas parties - you know close to the end where everyone links arms and starts to high kick.

Every Breath you Take Met someone special when it was playing and will always have a place in my heart

Re: Evocative music

Sorry Naomi, not joking, get more than a little fed up of the Welsh, heck it's not even a country nor even a nation, its a PRINCIPALITY.
You should have heard some of what was shouted by the Welsh lads on the Lions Tour, NOT GOOD. Was it directed towards the All Blacks, ummm nopee, but the English players.
The only 6 nations that i dislike going to is the one n Cardiff, the atmospehe before the game is oftern poisonous. And can be a little tense afterwards as well.
So sorry if my feelings annoy, apologies.
