British Rail

Went to London yesterday to the Royal Albert Hall to see the Cirque Du Soleil.
Took my son and daughter-in -law as part of their Christmas present.
Thought it would be a nice day out, train journey, lunch, show and home in time for tea!!!
Oh boy was I wrong- yet again we had "essential" maintenence going on. I know they have to repair the lines but do they have to use the most decrepit and repulsive buses they can find to get you from A to B?
They were filthy and water was running down the inside of the roof .
We had a lovely day apart from that, but I think it would have been quicker, cheaper and more pleasant to have gone by coach.
Rant over

Emma
The Cirque Du Soleil was absolutely wonderful - it's the 4th time we've been to see them. Worth every penny!

Re: British Rail

Rail is so good, when it's good and so bad when it's not.
Those of us who are still pathetic enough to suffer from travel sickness can't even get as far as the decrepid buses

- turn round and go home, or check the distance and the potential taxi fare. No point going to London carrying a plastic bag of vomit

Glad the Cirque was good. I'd love to see it.

Re: British Rail

I'd love to see Cirque de Soleil . . . must make the effort!!

DM that vom-smiley is amazing - just the job before breakfast (not).

I personally love travelling on trains - I must be only person that enjoyed the journey when commuting into London thankfully I have never had to take a bus instead of a train (much as I love trains I loathe buses unless it's an old routemaster ).

Sue, I'm glad you had a great day out and I hope the train fiasco didn't spoil your fun!!
