That's a nice update Kazz - but I still think you are right to give the kits a gentle 'shoo' (as opposed to shoe ) to let them know there is only one house they should go into - their own. I would worry about going to a rescue and not having a big enough box to bring home everything I wanted to |

Aparently thats what happened to Kath and Pat, Kath got so upset she couldn't go alone so Pat had to have a day off work and go with her, they wanted kittens, two as this is the first time they have been catless and oddly for the same reason as you decided this would be the last time you get kittens DM they said they couldn't justify at their ages having kittens much after this, Pat is 55 and Kath is 50. But apparently when they heard Tilly's story they decided to take her too, and the rescue were over the moon. Pat says he's grateful the other two kittens had already been homed or Kath would have brought all 5 home another reason their daughter Katie stayed in the car until they had found theirs as she cried all the way there, about the unwanted cats she is 17 and does not remember life without Pearl or Oliver Their two sons Matt early 20's and Tom 19 apparently also went. A proper family affair. |

Last time I was at a shelter (for cats) was nearly 18 years ago when I got Tizzie. They actually had very little there (one litter of extremely feisty semi ferals (leather gauntlets required ) and Tizzie and 2 sisters. However there was a gorgeous tortie (like Cassie but skinny) older cat, who was a long term resident and free in the grounds. She came to say hello and the helper showing me round quickly said "she's not for adoption". I said fine, not looking for an adult anyway (same situation - dogs and older cats in the house..........pretty stressy for a feline) and this tortie walked round the whole place with me, jumped into my arms, lay there like a fool, bumped heads, cavorted, purred, did all the stupid things.......... Got to the kitten cages, looked at the litter, said mmm, not sure, really wanted a tom, and the helper said "You can take the tortie if you want". How mean did I feel saying no, even though tortie was besotted with me. I've had pangs of guilt since but feel she was soooo friendly she must have found someone nice to take her home. |
