cat sitting

Just had a friend ring me, asking me if i can go around her house from monday, for two weeks, to look after her cat.
She dosent live far from me, and is dropping keys off monday morning. So i'll pop in 2-3 times a day, spend some time with her cat.
She doesnt want to put her in a cattery as she may be pregnant. SO i said ok I dont mind.
She's a nice litte cat, about a year old i think. Friendly little thing.not far from where ryan goes school.
and at least if i ever need a cat sitter i can now ask my friend without feeling it's a cheeck to ask her.

she going to leave all food, and litter, so i dont need to pay for anything. And offered me £30 for doing it, which of course i delcined, what are friends for after all!?!?

Re: cat sitting

no, she is allowed out usually, but my friend said keep her in while she away, especially as she may be prengant.
I dont mind helping out anyone that I can really. She taking her cat to the vets before she elaves monday, see if she is pregnant and if she is is going to get some kitten food for the mum to eat. So I dont have to go shopping for anything,e verything she needs will be in the house. Be less stressfull for her this way, being in her own home, and as it is so claose i can goa round at elast twice a day, send some time making a fuss of her etc.

Re: cat sitting

hmmm, well this 'person' is fast annoying me to be honest. I suggested getting the cat spayed by selling the kitttens to raise the money. She said why would she want to spend the money on spaying the cat when she can let her have more kittens and spend the money?

I got very angry at this and said that maybe she shouldnt have a cat at all.
At which point she said ( excuse this awfull phrase but it was her words) " i don't want the bloody thing anymore anyway, wish i coud get rid of it"

She then proceeded to ask me if I would take her on.
I did decline, i said I really have enough at the moment without a pregnant cat. BUt I will happily look after her while she is on holiday for two weeks.

I suggested if she doenst want the cat anymore why doesnt she contact CPL or something. Got the usual reply of " i'll think about it"

so, am more than a little annoyed at her. She doesnt seem to have much consideration for the poor cat really.
IN a way I wish I could take her on, just to get her out of that house, let her have this lot of kittens and then get her spayed. But I think I'll ring the CPL while my 'friend' is away and see what they say etc.

It just not fair on the poor cat bless her heart. I mean it's obvious they got her as a kitten and now she is 9 months old and pregnant theyre fed up with her.

Re: cat sitting

well, i am furious with my friend now, who I may add is no longer a friend of mine.
I was tlaking to another person i know locally and mentioned cat sitting, she said " oh but ****** isnt going on hoilday, she's moving house today"

I went around to see for myself and sure enough, they have moved house today!
Seems like they were going to leave the cat for me to find tomorrow, hoping I would take her on.

I am so mad, it beats me it really does. They obviously dont care a damn about this cat.
I had a good look through all the windows and cant see the cat in there anywhere, the doors are all open, so i called her but she didnt walk through or anything, and i can't hear any meowing.
I did call the RSPCA though, in cas,e and explained how she said she was going on hoilday etc, and that there is a small risk the animal is still int here. I can't jsut do nothing, but now i feel rotten that i said I wouldn't take her cat on.

flaming callous narrow minded ignorant people! really got my goat this has.

Re: cat sitting

I would be more careful who you pick as friends in future CK It seems as though she has taken the cat with her.....though why she told you she was going on holiday, goodness knows!

Re: cat sitting

I dont know what was going on with her. I going to take a walk past in morning , just to make double sure there no cat in there.

I dont have many people i consider as true friends, cos if they dont give and take, if they always expect me there for them but are never there for me, I don't bother with them.
I done a lot for this person in tha past, walking her kid home frmoschool when it the opposite direction to my house, babysitting etc.

Maybe she having some problems at the moment or soemthing, I don't know. Poor cat though

Re: cat sitting

Oh dear Cj I have just posted on the other thread about this pregnant cat. I hope for the cats sake she isn't pregnant but by the way this person talks if she isn't yet she will be soon and continually if she thinks she can make a bit of money from the poor little thing.
