Cleo missing Oscar - breaks your heart

Well I think Cleo has finaly realised Oscar has "somehow" (I don't think cats/animals understand death as such) left her life, she has woken for over a week now and called "like she called him when they were out" she is not quite herself either. Very quiet, and not quite right if you get my meaning. She sleeps a lot has done for a while now - but I am now convinced she actually misses Oscar - cats don't have a "handle" on time - but I am certain now she has realised its been a while since she saw him. And misses him. She won't stay on "his" side of my bed, she lies there for a second then moves back to her own side the right. And taps my face occasionaly as if to say "he's not here you know" Other people in the family have commented to over the last couple of weeks or so.

There is one way to calm her - Oscars bean bag - Cleo never liked bean bags but now she is often found curled up on his bean bag asleep.

Any suggestions?
Karen

Re: Cleo missing Oscar - breaks your heart

Oh I should have said she is eating well, sleeping well, interested in things in the house as much as most elderly cats are, grooming, and very loving as always. She does not play anymore but I know thats down to age, no interest in these things, but she is happy.

And another thing I do think the world of my cats but I do not humanize
them but I am certain she misses him. But she has never liked oher cats - other than Oscar so a new companion is out of the question.

Aww poor Cleo, I'd be amazed if she didn't miss Oscar after all the time they spent together, Kazz. It is probably due to her age and as long as you continue to show her love and give her comfort, I'm sure she will be ok Kazz...

Not much you can do Kazz, except give her as much attention and love as she needs, which you are doing anyway I know. Its a shame, but I cant think of anything else that will help her.

Not sure how to advise you Kazz Think it is inevitable she is going to miss him. Think all you can do is give her extra cuddles etc..
Hope things improve soon x

Ta all, I think I was grasping out for some straw of advice - that could help - but I didn't expect it.

Its the "calling fo him" that gets me most - they had a "call" to stay in contact that always seemed to get the other to respond where ever they were, the other would respond. And it ain't working obviously, and she look lost when it doesn't work.
