Question on cat litters

We have a lovely cat not too far from us. She visits our garden quite alot. The thing is she always seems to be pregnant.
How often often should a cat have a litter? What is the time between calls in a queen? Should she be allowed to have a litter everytime she's in call?

Re: Question on cat litters

hi Jac
queens can call every 2 weeks and can call as soon as 5 weeks after having a litter this can go on all year so she could have 3 or 4 litters a year

Re: Question on cat litters

We worked it out from when I first noticed she was pregnant. I recon she has had 3 litters in one year! Surley that's not any good for her health. I know she's a moggie, but poor thing. Do you think anything can be done about it.

I could always kidnap her, have her spayed then let her go again. (no not really but it is tempting)

She's a wee black and white girl. Long hair and really friendly. She'll come right up to you and winde her body round your legs, purring the whole time.

Re: Question on cat litters

She should definitely not be having a litter every time she calls. It is detremental to her healthy and the longer it goes on then it will also affect the kittens. They will be born tinier and less in the litter. My girls only have 1 litter a year unless something awful happens like they lose the kittens within the first week. I would then consider re-mating after 6-7 months depending on the condition of the mum. Could you not suggest to them that they get in touch with the Cats Protection League and get a neuturing voucher.
