Does anybody use talktalk?

I was looking into using talktalk for phone and internet, but am a litte confused. do they switchmy telephone line from bt to thiers? or do i use my bt line and get calls routed to them?

it looks like i can get broadband internet AND free evening and weekend calls (free for a year) for 10.50 a month, going up to 14.99 a month after one eyar.

which seems to be one of the best deals around i could find

Re: Does anybody use talktalk?

As far as I know, everything would essentially be the same but you would pay your bills to TalkTalk. Cable companies come and make a new telephone point (and also seem to make a seperate broadband point which always confused me) but TalkTalk will just use the existing BT line.

We are with HomeCall (I hate them but it's hassle changing and they phoned me up every day when I was still with BT - they offered me £50 to change and since my phone bills are rarely more than a pound a month I decided to give in!) and essentially the bills just have a different name on. No one had to come round, we have the same phone in the same socket and it also didn't affect our broadband (with Virgin).

If it saves you money CJ, go for it!

Re: Does anybody use talktalk?

well, i triyng to find out if talk talk take over my phone line totally, or if i still ahve to pay my basic bt line rental, in which case it wont be cheaper.
i emailed them,b ut it usually takes then a hwile to reply.

but for 10.50 a month i get 1meg broadband PLUS all evening and weekend calls free. after a year this goes up to 14.99 a month, still cheap

CJ - I think you can do either. Pay bills AND line rental to TalkTalk or bills to TalkTalk and line rental to BT - they'll most likely want you to do both though (which is good for you!)

When, there is no joining fee and you will be spared the hassle of additional hardware, dialling a prefix or changing your number. We will simply email you when your connection has been processed and let you know when you will be connected. If TalkTalk are not billing you for your line rental then you'll continue to get a bill from BT.
If you take line rental from TalkTalk , the charge for your line rental as well as any Calling Features will appear on your TalkTalk bill.
When you take TalkTalk line rental, BT engineers still maintain the line on TalkTalk's behalf. However, you will always need to liaise with TalkTalk for any problems regarding your line.

At present, we offer our phone and broadband services using BT as a third party telecommunications network operator. However, developments in network technology (known as local loop unbundling) may soon enable us to provide our services to you through our own network. We will let you know when we are able to provide our phone (and broadband) services in this manner.

So yes you can do either!

Evening and weekend calls to everyone free, or just to other talktalk customers? (Too lazy to find out myself.)
