An evening with Michael Portillo

What do you reckon? Coming to town at the end of the month.......a talk followed by Q&As. I think it might be quite interesting but my OH looked at the ad, saw it was £12 and said something about not crossing the road to .... on Senor Portillo if he was on fire
We'll see.
I think a lot of politicians have interesting tales to tell.......doesn't mean you have to like them or their politics.

Re: An evening with Michael Portillo

I went to one of these evenings with Tony Benn a while back. It was very, very good!!! I don't share his political outlook at all, but I think you need to look beyond that and, as you say just enjoy the anecdotes and 'insider view' offered. The Q&A is also just as funny - there were some really tough questions put to him which he fielded amazingly well. I came away with a huge respect for the bloke.

We decided not to go to one by Fred Dibnah which was a huge shame because of course within 6 months he'd passed away

It was so good. he is an excellent raconteur and varied the topics from politics to travel to Spain to his history etc. All interspersed with the usual bits of humour. He did that for an hour then took questions for three quarters of an hour, and was very good at thinking on his feet!
