& Now a speeding ticket....

Having a rubbish week, mainly because I am so busy at work & it just keeps getting busier, constantly tearing our hair out & chasing our tails at present at work.
Anyway this week has been terrible, busy at work, late home from work, my friends Dad died suddenly. Another friends nan died suddenly.

Then I get pulled over today for speeding. 2 PC's with a hand held speed gun, hiding behind a corner.

My hubby thinks I should try & get off with "technicalities" as there are a couple of errors on the ticket.

1- Me & the PC signed in the wrong places, so where it says drivers signature - she signed.
Then where it says signature & rank - I signed & she put her numbers in.

2- Also she didn't ask me who the car belonged to & just wrote down in class of use SDP when in actual fact it is a company car & I was on a business journey so no social, domestic or pleasure!

Anyway - I'll probably just have to pay up & get 3 points

I would question it Smudgley, its the PC's mistake not yours....Can't see you having to pay a fine when they can't even fill in a ticket properly!

Re: & Now a speeding ticket....

The funny thing was she asked me
how to spell Kelly
how to spell Jane
how to spell my surname
how to spell Foundry

But didn't bother asking me how to spell the only difficult word which is my local police station (to produce my documents) & I said "Brierley Hill" so she wrote down "Brillyhill"..............derrrrrrrrr

Re: & Now a speeding ticket....

I know it's wrong to speed, but what makes me mad is that it was going out of a town & into the country & just a few yards before it changed from 30 to national speed limit. I saw the NSL signs just behind the coppers. & the fact that they were really tucked away made me angry.
Not making excuses - I just think it's stupid - in a wide road approaching the country (no houses/shops)

Also hubby not too happy - but I think as I do above average miles it's to be expected. ( I don't mean it's right, I mean surely I have a higher chance of being caught speeding than someone who is on the road a lot less) He only does about 10K miles per year.I have done over 10K miles in the last 3 months. Crazy I know & I usually average about 30/35K miles per year.So I have done above average in the last 3 months.

Oh spit!

Yes, challenge the ticket - you don't need the points. I think you will get off too.
Have a good weekend!

Re: & Now a speeding ticket....

NO offense meant, but the way is ee it is you WERE speeding. And I have alwyas thought that speed cameras and coppers with hand helds should be allowed to hide away. Dnt see why they SHOULD be in full view cos all they manage to do then is slow everyone down until theyre a few hundred yards apst them, and then they all speed up again.

Speed limits are in palce for the safety of all road users, and It is my strong belief that if you speed nad get caught it;s your own fault.
I ahve been in one nasty crash cos of a lorry driver and car speeding, hit the car i was in, spun us over 10 times, bashing down the side of the lorry we went, it as only for the fact that my dad was a copper for 15 years and taught to drive really well in skids etc, that we werent dragged under the lorry and killed.

Like I say nothing perosnal, and I am sorry you are having such a bad week. Hope it gets better for you. Let's hope youa hve a ncie weekedn away and feel better next week

Re: & Now a speeding ticket....

If I were you I would question the fact they were hideing. In Scotland they have to be in full view.
