Georgian Fayre

Well, it's much the same every year but that doesn't mean it isn't fun! Morris dancing, maypole dancing, clog dancing, Ghurka moves, band, Yetties, falconry, wood carving, sheepdog activites etc, etc.
I particularly liked one of the pens of farm animals for petting by the children - 3 goats and a tube of purple hair gel! The goats were very good and didn't seem to mind having the hair along their spines and in their top-nots being coiffed!

Pics

Beware - a Town Crier's convention. What is the collective noun? - an exclamation, a proclamation, an exhaltation?

Fairground rides in the streets

Maypole dancing

Falconry. This African Fish Eagle took off to a nearby tree top to be mobbed by local crows! "You're not from round these parts, are you?". When we moved on she hadn't returned, despite being tempted by a tasty hatchling chicken

and finally (thank goodness, they all cry!) - the intrepid winner of the duck race!

Well, that was my exciting day! Hope you had a good one too!

Looks like great fun DM. I love traditional English days like this, with Maypole and Morris dancing. Great photos. Lovely buidlings.

A loudness of town-criers, surely? Thanks for letting us see some of the fayre. Nice with old traditions, and if they get a bit samey, one can always stay at home one year. Usually all it takes.
