Speed cameras

Has anyone been caught by one of them?
Coz i think i might of been! But the annoying thing is is that on the dual carriage way you have to go 60, n there are people in the slow lane going 60, so you have to go faster than them to go over 60 to over take them!
Which really annoys me.
And im a safe driver.

So just wandering, n how much is it, n how long is it till they let you know in the post?

Re: Speed cameras

Yes I've been caught by a speed camera.
They have 14 days only to issue you with a ticket.
It's a fixed penalty of 3 points & £60 fine.

Well I bet they won't be as grumpy as my husband was the other day when I had to tell him I'd got my 2nd speeding ticket

Re: Speed cameras

Not sure how long it takes. I thought I had been caught a while ago but I hadn't so fingers crossed. Mine was for going through a light though. Mind you I have been known to do 90. Guess I have just been lucky.

Re: Speed cameras

mmm, not keen on speed generally. Don't think most people are good enough drivers to handle the car at very high speeds.
But, it's all relative - 30mph is too fast in a residential area with kids playing.

I agree with that. I hate people driving dead fast up our street in case Tigger is out.

Re: Speed cameras

The national speed limit on a dual carriageway is 70 mph, 60 on a single carriageway, unless otherwise indicated (or you're towing etc).

If you would have to break the speed limit to over take, then don't do it. There is never a valid excuse for speeding.

I personally have no problems with speed cameras. Most roads are clearly marked as to what the speed limit is (and if they are not, or it isn't obvious, I think you can question a fine) and it is for the safety of everyone that maximum speed limits should be adhered to. I do however wish they would do something more useful with the money they make from these fixed penalties though.

Re: Speed cameras

Julie, are you sure? I thought the national speed limit was 60 except on motorways where it was 70? I maybe be wrong though . . . .

Sometimes cameras don't process even though they appear to have taken the picture. I know hubby was snapped doing a stupid speed (banable) on the M4 on his way to Heathrow several years back and nothing came through. Maybe he was going too quick
