Re: Anyone do car boots

I did two or three (3 I think) when I had an absolute ton of stuff left over from a garage sale I did to raise money for my Sahara walk (Does that sentence make sense? Think I should have used some punctuation, or paused for breath) Lots of my neighbours gave me stuff (or used the opportunity to clear out their garages/attics )

It wasn't tooooo bad. Bit scary when you pull in and dozens of 'buyers' descend before you can even get the boot lid up! . Put prices on everything first. Wear a bum-bag or similar, so you keep all your cash on your person. Have plenty of change. Don't have preconceived ideas of how much things are worth. Don't expect to get a great deal of money for any single item. Etc.

It was a while ago but if I think of anything else I'll post again.

BM is an inveterate 'booter'/buyer. 'Spect she will give you some thoughts

PS Think I made about £300 total - so it's worthwhile.

Kazz, I have done a few in the past made a few hundred £ at each one. Best to go with somebody else as well, then you can pop off and go to the toilet/get food drinks etc.

As DM said make sure you label up everything with a price then people don't have to ask you how much stuff is. Also take loads of change with you.

I always enjoy them

a couple of plastic bags or plastic sheets are a good idea, just in case it rains then you can put these over your table.

Oh and don't forget a couple of tables

Re: Anyone do car boots

hiya seasoned boot saler here both seller n buyer, when u first arrive u will be swamped by ppl. i call them vultures, try not to let them in the boot of the cat if u have breakables as they are ruthless, if it gets broken they dont give a damm and wont pay for it, anything thats worth money keep inside the car and not in the boot in a box. take another person with u as an extra pair of eyes helps cause they do steal from u .
videos we used to sell to start off with adult ones 1-00 kids ones 50p unless they are disney ones then 1-00. u can do a deal the more they buy do a discount. books i did hard back 1-00 paper backs 50p, again the more they buy a discount will be given.
clothes all depends on quality range from 1-00 down wards.
but any china stuff mark up in clear letters, cause u will get those of an ethnic perswasion who will offer u 20p for anything they pick up if they wont pay a decent price tell em to sling their hooks in a universal launguge LOL take a flask or a bottle of cold drink with u, and sandwhiches, as the burger bars leave alot to be desiresed plus their coffee is rubbish.
good luck n enjoy yourself, have a laugh with the customers.
