To those with "entire" cats

Can I ask those of you whose cats haven't been spayed or neutured why this is...........I am not critizing just wondering........there is a cat by my sister who to knowledge she is on litter of kittens No.5 now. Her owners appear (according to my sister) to be sensible people but wonder why..... they don't just have her spayed. I don't know them so can't ask

Re: To those with "entire" cats

Only thing I can think of is that mindset that "it's not natural"!! Imagine what it was like for women before family planning was available...! Child after child after child...think of the poor momma cat constantly pregnant ...and not enough homes for the kittens..very sad; cannot understand why people do this

Re: To those with "entire" cats

Micah and Nathanial and Nicky are not castrated - because every time I go to book them in something else happens and the money gets eaten and as they are boys I dont worry about it so much.

Felix is not castrated as when I got him 2 years ago the vets refused to do it because of the anasthesia risks.

Murphy, Solstice and Saturnalia are not done, because they is only babies and it isnt time yet. Sol and Sat will be speyed bang on 6 months - I will not have baby kittens here again - nightmares they are.

Re: To those with "entire" cats

My cats are indeed house cats, Sometimes I wonder why I pay the mortgage as it appears to be their house.

And the Risk to Felix is because 2 years ago he was 18, and is " a frail old man" *cough* He is now a 20 year old grumpy bum, who admitedly is becoming frail. Both of the vets in my area were against him being done.

Out of my 9 I have 3 entire females and 2 entire males the other 4 have been spayed/neutered. As you probably know I breed Persians and that is why I have the 5 entire.

Re: To those with "entire" cats

It is interesting you have such an old entire Tom Moggz - I know there is a risk of testicular cancer in unneutered males. I wonder if he is an exception to the rule.
