Holiday cottages in the lake district?

Right can anyone help (i've left it a bit late i know!) in suggesting somewhere to rent a holiday cottage in the lake district for about a week, a party of 8, with two dogs-require *roughly* (but can compramise) 5 or 6 bedrooms
Any ideas of where to begin the search?

I think you will be lucky Luke, generally you are looking at about 6mths in advance, you may get lucky though or a cancellation.

Luke - I can't recommend anywhere as I've not been to the area before (except on business). However I have, for other areas found some of the 'cottage portal' websites quite useful (I found an excellent one in the Peak District a couple of years ago like that).

Good luck - hope you find what you're looking for!

Luke - National Trust have some lovely properties, many of which take dogs. I can't remember the exact address but if you google national trust cottages you'll find it.
Edit: http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/ There you go!

Luke, this place is fantastic and really dog friendly. They are usually booked up way in advance, but you might be lucky. http://www.greenbank-cumbria.co.uk/
