Changing vets

I had to contact the rescues vet about PEbbles nose, and it did get me thinking of changing now that I have the car. Had a chat with them, and they can offer me a 10% discount on all my cats, not just hte fosters, and they are pounds cheaper on most of their things anyway, there is only vaccs that there isn't much difference in. Seeing as I have spent over 2k in 4 years (1.5 of that since last Jan), it should hopefully make a massive difference to things - the only downside is they are a 15 min drive away rather than a 5 min drive, but as they open later and shut later than my vets, it might be easier, as I am no longer restricted to one late night or seeing a different vet. They dont normally do thyroid tests in house due to the cost of buying 5 plates in one go which dont last long, but I asked if they would if I could guarantee 3 in 6 months, and they have said yes, which not only means I save money cos of not having to pay lab fees, but as they are goign to be done in house, it means I can get the results in 15 mins, rather than waiting till the day ater, which will be miles better. They are very animal orientated, having lots of their own pets, and they also do a lot of handrearing for us. I have offered to take on any oldies that they know will have a few months, but they dont feel should be pts cos of it - hopefully she will take me up on that offer, as she does struggle emotionally with it, whcih I dont (yet).

Re: Changing vets

ME too. I like my 'old' vet, but with how much I spend, if i can get a good service for cheaper, i think i would be daft not to give it a try. And there are some other perks - for me, being able to get blood test results in 15 mins is a big bonus, I have at least 3 done a year. And I am dealing with the people who own the branch, not an employee, so more chance of getting a deal on some things.
