Daily thread - Monday

Thought I'd start this early for others to add to.
OK - all is pretty quiet here. Dinah seems to be shaking off the kennel cough. She has never been poorly with is - just the dry cough and associated retching but yesterday and today she only coughed a bit on waking/moving (full strength Players - I've told her to stop smoking! ). Mini is Mini - doing fine, taking a little slippery elm powder in the morning, to prevent a little sickness due to acid stomach and her condition (What happens first thing in our house? I go round with the bucket and brush, clearing animal vomit - no, it's not that bad but the last couple of sentences would make you think so!)
It seems a little cooler - so allotment for me today.
Bad news over the weekend. A good friends' daughter (our friends with the house in France we stayed at recently) (fit, healthy, in her 20s) has collapsed with a blood clot on the brain. Probably surgery today. Can't imagine what they are feeling. However, she is at a top London neurosurgery unit, so couldn't be receiving greater care.
Have prattled on enough.
Take care - have a good day everyone.

Re: Daily thread - Monday

DM - I do hope your friends' daughter is OK. It's such a horrible shock when something like that happens. I think no parent wants to see their child - whatever the child's age, go through anything as life-threatening and serious as you describe.

And the bucket and mop routine? Well that seems to be my lot at the moment - it's furball central here for some reason. Every morning there are at least 2 to clean up. The worst bit is hubby moaning and cursing about it though It's not even as if he has to clear it up!!!!

Today it's back to quiet normality after a hectic weekend. Had my step-daughter here on Saturday. It was her 17th brithday, and earlier in the year when we had a bit of spare cash, we bought her a little Corsa. It had been used by a couple of employees in the interim, but Saturday saw it going to it's new, permanent owner. She's a bit of a 'secretive' girl emotion-wise, but she was clearly over the moon with the car which was lovely to see. Took her to a superb 'gastropub' in the country for a rather posh dinner - Domi was in 7th heaven as he got to stay up until nearly 10pm!!

Yesterday - unbeknown to me, hubby had arranged for his son, grandson and son's fiancee to come over early evening. Thankfully the house/garden had JUST been returned to normality after paving and we were able to sit around enjoying a glass or 2 of wine.

Today I'm not planning much, just some interim cleaning of basement, spot-cleaning of kitty-vom patches on the carpet, and trying to convert the bugaboo pushchair into a pram!!! Oh - and some pics of the garden

Sorry for the essay . . . just realised I've written a dissertation on what I've been up to

It's brightening up here now, we had light drizzle early this morning.

Wento to my sister's birthday party yesterday in Bournemouth. Thomas made a new pal....a chocolate colour labrador. She followed Thomas everywhere all afternoon as he was playing with her in the river

Other than that it's cleaning the house top to bottom as I have my niece coming to stay next weekend

Very overcast here today and a lot cooler.

Making some chocolate cakes later on to take down to Dawlish tomorrow to my daughter who is on holiday there. Looking forward to spending the day with them.....it only takes us barely 2 hours to get there....

Will be doing some more garden tidying up too....

Have a good day all!

I need to go spend outrageous amounts of money on getting my passport sorted, as I'm hoping to wander off to a festival in the Netherlands in two weeks.

Been at work today with Emma my daughter - very stressful!!! She makes everything ten times worse when you are trying to work!!! She was going round the office taking everyone's photos with our office camera, she spilt a bag of sugar on the old windey staircase up to the roof space where our kitchen is (Grade II Listed old building), she hole punched everything in sight, AND DIDNT MAKE ANY TEA ALL DAY!!!
