Had a fantastic time. Our tour guide was mental, I could have gladly choked her a few times but she was very good and said the most hillarious things. She was a big animal lover too and always carried food around with her for the dogs and cats. She also goes complaining to all the town officials to get them to nueter the strays. I think she would be a force to be reckoned with.
She would always start a talk by saying things like, "just the other day, 5 years ago....." She doesnt know why people would want to go "banjo" jumping and one told us that if we were very quiet, we could hear the bull frogs go "quack quack".
It was a long tour, starting off at Thessaloniki, in the north. We travelled down to Pella to visit the palacial ruins of where Alexander the Great was born. From there we went to Veryina to visit the tombs of Phillip, king of Macedonia and father of Alexander. Then it was onto the Kalambaka, the foot hills of Meteora, where byzantine monestaries were built into and on top of.
Next day it was off to Athens. Went to the Parthenon, the markets and then I ******ed off to meet an old friend
.
From Athens we went to the Corinth Canal and onto Ancient Corinth, then to Olympia. After that we began to head north again. To Itea and then the Delphi and back to Thessaloniki.
We were up about 6 each morning and never in bed before 12 at night and usually half cut
. Had a bit of a blow out on our last night in Thessaloniki, got very very drunk, a few people ended up in the pool and the manager went mental
A thoroughly good night
.
Then the next day those of us who were staying on for a chill out week were taken to our resorts. The weather was crap and we had the most magnificient thunder storms. At one point I thought Turkey had invaded or an earth quake had erupted. Our village got flooded, cars went into the sea and I was trapped in a resteraunt watching wheely bin float by. After a few free beers, I settled down and relaxed
. The last 3 days were brilliant sunshine and I made sure I was out in it as much as possible.
Met alot of very lovely people and had a damned good laugh along with several hang overs.
