Is this taking things too far?

I can't believe that sending anyone a birthday card with their age on could be considered ageist and breaking the law! I think it's good that they take the trouble to even remember how old you are!

I would be delighted if my family and friends sent my next birthday card with 21 on it!

Ridiculous-almost as bad as 'British Airways' (i think) bringing in a new policy that any male travelling alone will not be allowed to sit next to a minor in fear of paedophilles-heard it on a chat show whilst making lunch.
This world is becoming a joke!

I agree Luke ! I think there must be a lot of people with nothing better to do than come out with such outrageous ideas and suggestions ......don't they realise that they are just stirring up more trouble

Crazy isn't it?
All part of the 'ultra PC, no-one must have their feelings hurt, all must win prizes etc etc' culture.
I think it infantilises people actually - we have to learn to accept life's knocks, and that we are not the centre of the universe.

Re: Is this taking things too far?

its absolutely riduculous! I would love to meet these people who decide these things

When I was younger and was working at Asda as a greeter I used to have to read out over the mike special offers and stuff. Well every year Asda raises money for disabled kids and their parents to travel to Lourdes in France. I had to read out a script and on the script it said handicapped children - well this women came storming up to me and totally humilated me infront of every-one in the shop about how we are supposed to say disabled now not handicapped - she didn't even give any money for the charity either!

Reminds me of an old Somerset saying (said in a good wurzel accent of couse)
"They'm all mad, 'cept me and thee - and I baint too sure about thee either"

Re: Is this taking things too far?

That's just plain silly. For goodness sake most people find those cards really funny.

I'm racking my brains here as to see how a birthday card with a funny comment/age on it, can be classed as ageist
