It would have to be the Bomb; that did change the course of world events IMHO. Rosa Parks was important for race relations here; not so much for the world. And what about the development of the polio vaccine? That had a worldwide effect. Also the AIDS epidemic. And the Internet...we wouldn't be chatting here without it.....buying things on eBay and Amazon, IM'ing, etc, etc. |

Only a little question then ..... Erm .... electricity and associated advances in broadcasting etc? Or the internal combustion engine/need for oil and all that both entail The wheel? Iron? Fire? A lot depends on whether you want to put a time frame on it? I think historians/archaeologists say that the 'discovery' and improvement of wheat and other grain crops, which meant that humankind could stop being hunter/gatherers and instead become settled farmers is the most significant change in man's history. |
