So what is everyone actually doing christmas day?

Right i did look and couldn't find a thread like this..so chose to post! What are you all actually doing christmas day?

Christmas morning, after obligatory present opening of course, i shall be out with the dogs and taking the shortcut to g-grans house (across fields..i bet i get lost) It's actually only about a half hour ish walk that way..whereas takes flipping forever walking street ways/buses/cars etc..will go and see her christmas morning, despite the fact she will have people there anyway. Back home for about half twelve..got a fair few people coming for christmas dinner-i do hope it doesn't fail, and then evening time will have a few stragler aunts, uncles, cousins & g-grandmother, of course, come by for turkey sarnies and to drink whatever tipple may be on offer
Proper jampacked family christmas as it should be-and i swear, when walking through the shortcut to grans house if i don't at least see frost on the floor, snow would be preferable, i shall not be happy!

Weel, here it is a case of get up as soon as the girls realise it's Christmas day (usually around 6 am). Open all the pressies and then OH and I catch another 40 winnks while the girls play with the new toys. Back up around 9am for breakfast, depending on how tired they are will try and make the Christmas day service at church. Start lunch and sir down around 2.30. Watch the Queen, and a film on tv and don't move off the couch until bedtime!

I wont have the children from this Friday evening until around 11am Christmas morning, so I will have a lie in, then get up and make everything ready for the children coming home. Dinner around 2pm then my sister and her four children are hoping to come over for the afternoon/evening with lots of food and drinks if wanted.

It's just us 4 this year so we have decided that we will have Christmas dinner at tea time rather than lunch time, that way we can get the horses sorted out and then we are in for the rest of the day, not needing to go out again on a very full tum!
We are planning a very relaxed Christmas day this year unlike the usual busy, stressy day it is when you have visitors for lunch

We've got seven for Christmas lunch, turkey with all the trimmimgs, followed by a choice of Christmas pudding, mince pies or fresh fruit - then the afternoon will be spent opening presents and testing out the children's new toys and games I expect Katie and Jamie will be searching the Christmas tree for the little stocking decorations as they know I always put mini chocolate Santas in there

In the evening we will have a buffet with plenty of goodies that probably no one will feel like eating after their huge Christmas lunch!

I have 12 for Christmas dinner. My brother & sister and their families. This will be the first time we have all been together on Christmas day for several years. We will open presents in the morning and then go to church. My daughter is doing a reading. The back home to cook the dinner. I intend to do all the preparations the day before. Caleb will get a nice long walk so he isn't too hyper when everyone arrives!

Re: So what is everyone actually doing christmas day?

Im going back home (to my mums) today, so will be having Christmas there. My mum usually wakes me up early and then we give Ben his xmas presents (mums Rottweiller!). Once Ben is sorted we are allowed to open our own. We then visit several relatives (nans, grandad's, step nan & grandad and aunts!) to give out presents before we go home again for dinner.

Once dinner has settled, about 3pm, I go to my dads for another Christmas!! Lots of family are always there!! I give and receive presents & then have another Christmas dinner.

Oli will be staying at my boyfriends house (2 mins from mine), so i will visit him with some turkey during the day and also have a rather large pile of presents for him to open! Im sure he will be more interested in the wrapping paper though!

Have a great Christmas everyone...

We'll be getting up at a hellishly early hour when Random realises it's Christmas... Then having a close, family Christmas morning. Later on, Hippie's dad, stepmum and little sister (same age as Random) will come over.

We're putting on Christmas dinner, so we'll be busy cooking and preparing food from about Saturday onwards The way we've calculated it, we'll get some rest on the evening of Boxing Day

Re: So what is everyone actually doing christmas day?

On Christmas Day?? Not much!

Traditionally our busy days are Christmas Eve, when we go to my Mum's for a traditional Polish Christmas, including a huge, fish-based multi course affair. Most presents are handed out then.

Christmas Day it will be just the 4 of us at home. I'm doing monkfish with prawn and scallops in a hollandaise sauce and if the weather's nice we might go for a walk either by the river or to a park in the afternoon. Dominik will get one of his presents on Christmas Day - his huge fire engine pedal car . . . simply because it's too bit to lug to my Mum's house!

Boxing Day is traditionally Ken's kids coming over to us. But that's now been extended to my Mum, his Mum, his son's girlfriend and his grandson. More present opening!! This year we'll be heading off to a lovely country 'gastropub' called The Pot Kiln. I've heard good things about it and it is run by some TV chef (Mike Robinson). Never seen his show, but had a brief chat with him yesterday ahd he seems a nice chap!

Over to Mum's, pick her up and into the hospital to see Dad for 11.30. Visit till 12.15, leave Mum to have hospital xmas dinner with Dad and get a lift home (from a very kind neighbour) later. Get back, light the fire, open a bottle of bubbly, anticipate our children arriving. Giftage and then xmas lunch/dinner at about 5. Clear away and xmas cards, with drinks and sandwiches if required, till bedtime.
Have to fit in coping/enjoying the animals in there somewhere
