Camera's - help please

Okay you camera people, I would like a new camera does not have to be digital, but would not like to be swopping lens about, shoot and click variety would be nice as I am an idiot. Honest. Would like a camera that can take pictures a distance away optical zoom is it?

Any suggestions, don't want to spend over £200- £250 tops. Also any one seen any good deals on camera's?

Thanks in advance Karen

Re: Camera's - help please

i have a Nikon coolpix.
really pleased with it.
It was recomended by a couple I know. She has one & her hubby has a "very big, very posh, very expensive thing!"

He reckons his wifes Nikon coolpix is as good quality as his!

That was good enough for me.

Also I needed one that was simple to use. Turn on & click & it is!

I had 2 Nikon Coolpix compact digitals, very pleased with both, the Canon Ixus range is also excellent, but most of any make compact have small zooms. The Panasonic DMC range are a bit bigger but have upto 12X optical zoom.
Dawn.

Re: Camera's - help please

Is that Coolpix really really simple to use: just point and shoot? Does it have that option that if the picture in the view isn't any good that you can delete it!? And I'd be interested in one that would just take rather close-up shots, cats, flowers, garden, etc.; can you get one without a zoom? I really need to get a camera, but an so intimidated at reading the descriptions on line, they're way too technical and I don't understand half of what the mean! Karen, didn't mean to hijack your thread, but I'm in need of info: Cameras For Dummies..

Re: Camera's - help please

I've been online looking at the Nikon Coolpix L-2. It comes with a memory card (not sure what that is), a USB cable, 2 batteries, lens cleaner and a carrying case, for $164.00. It has a zoom and a flash. Does this sound simple enough ? Would appreciate some feedback...thanks!!

Hiya Eileen,

1st of all the memory card is nothing to worry about it is just what stores your pictures (the better the memory card the more pictures you can hold on the camera at anyone time) the zoom can either be zoomed out for your close picures and zoomed in for your more further away pictures, the flash is a bonus! And obviously the battery(s).. will go and have a browse online for you and see what i can find out

Re: Camera's - help please

Right here it is..

Right it has a 4x zoom, (but you don't have to use the zoom for closer shots)
Can be used in black and white mode (shoot in black and white)
It already has a memory of 23mb but can be made to have more memory if you insert a memory card.
It has a built in flash.
It an automatic red eye erradicatpr (sp?)
The usb cable is there to transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer.
And here is the battery info: 2 x AA NiMH rechargeable battery ( optional )
2 x AA lithium battery ( optional )
2 x AA alkaline battery ( optional )

Hope this helps people with there camera quest!

Tom
