Re: What are you doing New Years Eve?

Nope, just a nice quiet evening. We used to have the most brilliant parties when I was little and my granda was alive, but after he passed away, no-one was really interested in holding them. It just wasn't the same. I can still see him on his knees doing his Al Jolsen impression and belting out 'Mamee'! My OH and I let the kids stay up for the bells, we all sit in our jammies watching whatever programme is broadcasting from Scotland. Once the New Year arrives the kids go to bed and Robert and I sit chatting about what we'll hope for in the coming year. I prefer to spend it as a quiet, reflective time than out partying the night away. Maybe I'm just getting old, lol!

Re: What are you doing New Years Eve?

Not for us. probabaly just a nice meal. My daughter will be working. It would have been my mums 70th Birthday on 1 Jan and we always gave her her presents and cards at midnight, so New Years Eve is always bitter sweet for us. but especially so this year on her special Birthday.
I shall light a candle for her.

Sorry everyone and Eileen, I guess this was supposed to be a happy thread.

Hope you all have some happy times planned.

Sorry about your loss, Kim; no wonder it's a sad time for you. I'm just having a quiet night at home; will watch the ball descend on TV at midnight, then to bed! Haven't been to a New Years Eve party since the Millenium; that was kind of special!

New Year's Eve is nothing special for me. Just another night. Not sure if the children will be here or not as the ex doesnt give me any notice about things.

Nothing special planned for us, just a quiet night in. We'll stay up until midnight to see the New Year in, toast it with a glass of Baileys then off to bed.

New Year's day will be more exciting as we are going to our daughter's for a nice meal and spending the day there playing games etc with the children.....

Re: What are you doing New Years Eve?

Jane, Kim - sorry to hear that Jan 01 will hold sad memories for you both. It's difficult when everyone is enjoying themselves and you need to put a brave face on things.

I won't be doing much. We don't usually do anything on New Year, but this year will probably (again) be calming a terrified Dominik as the fireworks are relentless.
