Re: Daily Thread - Monday

Morning all, Em's first day back at school today after the Christmas hols. Not doing much today but getting cleaned up. The little pimple in Bliss's ear seems to be abating so I think I will sit on it a couple of days. She has gone out of call now so it seems quite coincidental that it came just before her call and is going now her call is over??
Waiting in for my new kitchen sink taps to be delivered today.

Sweet - Hope all goes well at the docs and that your arm isn't too painful afterwards

Jac - Hope you are on the mend soon. You do have it rough

DM - how did Christmas Mark 2 go?

Re: Daily Thread - Monday

We had a very nice day thanks Fran. Mum's leg is still a big bother to her and she is obviously a bit down but dad wasn't too bad at all (for a frail, forgetful 81 year old). I took goulash and pasta, my sister brought the fruit salad (luxury, with mango and lychees) and creme fraiche, we dished it out in our own plates and packed them up to take back and stash in the dishwashers at home, so it was dead easy. Eating is probably my dad's greatest pleasure now though you wouldn't think so to look at him he is so frail. He is restricted somewhat with his diabetes but is fortunate that he doesn't have a sweet tooth.
When I think of all the xmas day traditional meal kitchen slavery I really wonder whether we shouldn't enjoy each other's company more and use more pre-prepapred, single pot, fork buffet type food?

I'm glad it went well and I am sure your dad was absolutely made up to be home and enjoying a second Christmas. Your mum is bound to be a bit worn down, what with her leg, the hospital visiting and the worry over your dad, it's bound to have taken it's toll I hope she can start to relax a little now and concentrate on getting herself 'right'

Jac - lol @ sitting on Bliss' ear

Re: Daily Thread - Monday

Sebastian has been sleeping all morning. Must have been that non-stop screaming all weekend that tired him out Seriously, I getting to my wits' end here. The specialist feels he may have cow's milk intollerance (not lactose, but the protein in the milk). I will have to get a prescription from my GP for some special feed, but need to wait until the end of the week for the specialist's letter to reach the GP etc etc.

Have just managed to shower and spend some time with Dominik as he goes back to nursery tomorrow. And have done some tummy exercises.

Have had to cancel my personal trainer for this week as i need to be in the office on Thursday as we have a uber-important new business presentation that I must attend. I'm really struggling with having to get my brain back into business mode - it's actually filling me with dread and making my already fragile self-worth plummet

Oh, and we've decided to get an au pair. After the previous fiasco with Dominik's thieving Texan au pair, this time we're going to go through a reputable agency. I think having an extra pair of hands will be invaluable.

Oooops - police helicopter is hovvering, I bet it's going to wake the baby . . .
