Protecting Garden Birds from Infection

Remember threads last year about a terrible parisitic disease - trichomonas - which was decimating wild birds, particularly finches? It caused inflammation of the oral cavity and oesophagus leading to a fatal blockage. Well apparently drinking water is a major means of spread of the disease, particularly in bird baths, which quickly become contaminated through saliva, droppings and regurgitated food. (Very sad if we have to give up our bird baths )
Anyway, a local farmer has invented a combined feeder/drinker, where the water just appears as droplets from a nipple and apparently mimics the way birds peck droplets of water from twigs. Here's the link http://www.quillgardenbirddrinker.com/#1X0
It's normally £29.50. If you fancy one you can call Quill Productions on 01258 818239 by 16 Feb, mention that you heard about the product via the article in the Blackmore Vale magazine, and claim a £2.50 reduction. (and no, I have no connection with the company - it just seemed a good idea)
