My new flower bed

My hubby sweated his little socks off this morning digging out my new flower bed and planting in my new shrubs and flowers. The tree in the middle I got from netto last autumn and it has spent the winter in a pot in my garden and has now started budding so I'm very chuffed with my £1.99 bargain . My lavenders have been in planters all winter too and I got the crysanthemums (sp) and the heather yesterday. once I get my rocks in place (if I ever get them) and have the log roll edging when I get it, it will look really nice! My dahlias that I repotted last month have now started sprouting and they will be planted as soon as they are big enough too!

And this is one of my little visitors, Stripey, enjoying the benefits of all of Roberts hard work . I'm not sure if this little one is a stray or not, but she lives in my garden now too. Funnily enough, she started appearing a few days after Princess left!!

Re: My new flower bed

That will be a lovely little flower bed by the time summer comes Alex .....what sort of tree have you planted?

It looks like your visitor approves of Robert's hard work!

What happened to the three kittens that you used to get in your garden ......did I miss what had happened to them?

Re: My new flower bed

Looking good very very good - excellent he has worked very very hard there.

Can I offer - say no if you wish! should you want some perrenials at all I will be dividing/replanting some of mine the end of the year like the poppies (you know the big red ones) etc and taking cuttings from some others and removing some they will be an assortment of perenials (cottage style) plants? if you are interested at all though you may be not needing them .........if you are interested I will take some pics midsummer when they are out in bloom then you could take your choice/pick from the piccies and I will dig them out for you wholesale or take cuttings or divide them and then deliver them even to you in time to replant for Autumn this year so they can establish before winter and come up next year with full bloom....only if you are interested.

Karen

Re: My new flower bed

Kazz!! I would be ever so grateful for some perennials. I'm not very good at the whole gardening thing yet, and have difficulty picking the right plants. And I don't want to have lots that are just for one season, I would love to have loads that come back year after year.

Mags the tree is a Malus Crab Apple Liset (apparently lol). It bears large bright red flowers in spring succeeded by dark purplish-red berries. Dependant on pruning (which it will have a lot of 'cause I don't want it too high), it can grow to heights of 20-25 ft!! And as for the little torties, well they are still here, but only until next week. DiddyDawn is coming to take them from me and is rehoming them to a stable in the countryside where they will live like the Princesses they are!! I'm so excited for them!

Eileen, I had never realised how rewarding gardening was until the last few years as I never had one before, and I absolutely love it. Just watching your labours grow and change with the seasons is wonderful!

thank you all for your comments

Re: My new flower bed

Right no probs as mine come out this year I will take a snap of them as they get into full bloom/flower so to speak I'll post the picture on here and if you like it in the Autumn time I will dig it out or divide it and you can have it. No probs the majorit of my garden is perenials now coming back year after year little to no care needed either. once established.
We should be able to find something in my garden you like I hope.

Re: My new flower bed

Alex, you're well and truly hooked on gardening now, I can tell! It's such a miracle: pop a wee little brown seed in a pot and in August it's a huge plant covered with juicy tomatoes.... and wrinkled dried looking bulbs in the Fall turn to blazes of color in the Spring garden (if the damn squirrels don't eat them!! ) I hope to garden till I'm carried off in a pine box!
