i used to use windows but imo it isnt the safest of tools. i now use gentoo linux and have done for quite a while,once you get use to the differences linux is twice the speed of any windows OS everything is free aswell which makes it even better,no viri,no spyware either |

I'm amazed, Tom, you helped me so much with my problems on my Mac! Thought you knew it inside out....and it's supposed to be so much more user-friendly than a PC! |

Yeah its very different...very very! Different file systems, for example, on linux we dont have 'My Computer' we have /dev/hda lol that would be your C: drive for example.....strange huh? Anyways, Linux isnt quite as complex as mac, it does share the same things though, ie. a console program for command line instruction, little bit like DOS, but called BASH (bourne again shell) Its good, deffinatly reccomend it to any computer/programmer enthusiast! |

Ohhh will have to have a think! I hope to learn more about this kind of thing in later years ie uni and stuff!! Hehe Eileen!! I get the basic idea of how they work but on principle i can relate to windows when trying to explain ie Tom x |
