Re: Smudgley

I went to take some photos of them yesterday but had a problem with the camera. I think it's sorted now so I'll try & get some photos later.

The 4 big brown girls have names. (They all have a coloured ring on so that we can easily identify them & their name is associated with their colour so that we remember who is who)

They are
Ruby (red)
Snowy (white)
Sky (blue)
Jade (green)

We ringed the 6 youngsters yesterday but haven't named them yet. We are awaiting to see how many of them turn out to be cockerals & as we were putting the rings on the yesterday they were chirping away & this is what we heard...

"chirp, chirp, chirpy chirp chirp, chirpy chirp chirp, it was really sweet until we heard one of them have an attempt little cock-a-doodle do! It was a feeble attempt but really made us laugh & I can safely say one is most definitely a male!

PS - How do you spell definitely I never know!

Re: Smudgley

How clever to call them names to associate with their coloured rings .......anything for an easy life eh?!!!!

I had to laugh at the little one attempting a "cock-a-doodle-do" !!!

Re: Smudgley

You should have been there, they were chuntering away as we were messing about in their house & they weren't happy. When we heard it, me & John just looked at each other shocked & burst out laughing.

The little cockerals will be going back where they came from, we can't keep them here. We need to wait until we know who is what, we think we know what 3 of them are, one hen & 2 boys... not sure about the other 3 yet.
We have 17 gardens backing onto us. So even if we wanted to - it wouldn't be fair on the neighbours.

Re: Smudgley

Mmmm, my sister's bantam Millie, who turned out to be Mervyn, had to go back. The breeder said oh yes, he'll be rehomed ....... I think not - rehomed in the oven, only
