What an Afternoon!!!

The storms started today about lunchtime. Torrential rain, mega loud thunder and amazing lightning Was at work and the High Street was flooded in seconds.... it lasted around two hours but then came back!!

Got a call from the kids to say the school was flooded (up to knees in the sports hall) so the pupils were all told to get out!!!! Kids chucked out into the thunder storms to walk home. Both my kids were drowned rats by the time I got to them!

Just spent the last hour and a half having to wash and dry all their uniform - radiators are now on to dry shoes and bags and school books.

The kitchen was flooded where water had overflowed the gutters and came pouring down the walls and through my cat flap

The bunnies were completely soaked through in the garden. All their bedding and hutches were saturated (even though I have a tarpauline over the roof and sides and back). The both seem pretty spooked. They have all been dried out and cleaned and fresh hay and bedding replaced.

Phew!!!!!

Would of been easier to stay at work and put my feet up

Goodness Donna, that does sound bad Glad your children arrived home safely too.

So that explains why there was no play at Wimbledon this afternoon!

Dare I say that we have had a lovely sunny afternoon

Re: What an Afternoon!!!

I think that's really irresponsible of the school to be honest. What if there had been no one home or even worse an accident on the way home?
Sorry you have had such a bad day.
I'm sick of rain!! So are the kids, remember ours started there holidays on Friday and it's rained every day since.

Re: What an Afternoon!!!

I'm totally sick of hte rain too. Garden is sodden, can't dry any washing, can't enjoy the garden or taking dogs for a walk. Sorry for the moan, I know so many people are much worse off.

Our school lost the electricity today, so no computers, phones or anything!
