I need my wedding certificate translating....

....into English. As we got married in the Dominican Republic, it's in Spanish. I've managed all these years without needing it translating but for some reason the Passport Office insist that to change my passport from my previous surname to my current surname the Marriage cert has to be in English

I phoned a couple of companies up and it's going to cost me £47, one company quoted me £62 I wouldn't mind but I speak enough Spanish myself to be able to translate it! but the translation has to bear the translators official stamp then the Pasport Office will kindly charge me the price of a new Passport just to change my name when my current one still has a few years on it!!

You don't think of all these little 'extra' costs when you book a holiday do you? The extras are going to cost more than the holiday at this rate

Re: I need my wedding certificate translating....

Emm - I run a translation agency, you'd be amazed at how much admin is involved in getting a notarized translation (which is what would be needed for a marriage certificate).

Fran - leave it with me for a bit, I will ask around to see if there is a translator that will do it for you and then I will PM you their details. That way you can cut out the middle man (agency) and liaise directly with the translator and get it for a - hopefully - lower price.
