Day length/sunset

After a brief exchange with DM (US) yesterday, I made a point of noting when it got dark last night. The answer was that we pulled the curtains at ten to nine. It wasn't fully dark then but neither was there a lot of light in the sky.
I just love long light evening/nights and I think that is what I have missed this summer (alleged ), as much as daytime heat and sun. There is little better than sitting outside in the honeyed evening air, with the warm smells around, and only coming in when it's time for bed.
It's also a big plus of the continent, where they always have the extra evening hour.
Silly how something so simple affects one's sense of well-being.

Re: Day length/sunset

Moli, I know I have SAD, the long dark Winter nights are incredibly depressing! And we're in a different latitude here, darkness comes much earlier than it does in the UK: sunset is at 7:58 pm tonight! I do miss sitting out on the porch after dinner listening to the birds and cicadas and enjoying the cooler air...and it will be worse when daylight saving time is over...

I totally agree with you DM. I have so missed sitting out on the decking on the warm summers evenings this year Hardly any BBQ's for us this year either and winters with the horse are so very very long. I do feel cheated!
