Under Age MembersAs some of you may be aware, I had been informed that some users have registered by entering a fake date of birth on sign-up. One such user is only 11 years old, and while we have had a min age requirement of 16 in the past, it was recently trialled at 13 (actually by accident, but I let it continue to see how things went). However it has never been lower than that. The system refuses to register someone if their DOB shows they are too young, and the only way they can get around it is by lying. Apart from the legal ramifications of providing a service to minors and the responsibilities that come with that, none of my sites have ever allowed under 13's to register (in fact they are usually over 16s!) because I do not want to be responsible for minors, and would hate to think anything nasty happened to one on one of my sites. We simply do not have the resources. Anyone registered under the age of 13, and has made this information public will be asked to leave the site as we cannot make exceptions on this rule. They may still continue to browse the site as a guest, and if they're parents are members they can pass on the occasional message. Apologies to anyone who has got away with it for any length of time, but in all honesty, if they hadn't of lied on registration we wouldn't be here today. I'm not judging anyone on that, I know what kids are like and I'm not cross - it's just that when 'you've been found out' you have to accept that and be responsible for your actions, and simply move on with your chin up - I have to abide by our rules. If anyone has any feedback about this please use the feedback section. Thanks, and I hope you understand that I had no choice in the matter.
