Daily thread - Wednesday

Good morning. Sunny and bright here but still chilly. Lit the woodburner for the first time this winter (it's not really winter, is it?) last night, so the house is gorgeously warm - the real fire seems to get into the structure and heat the whole house so much more thoroughly than the radiators. We laughed at the cats as they lay about, stretched out, flowing in Dali-esque fashion over the sofas, obviously lapping it up!
My sister has a new puppy - a Bedlington x Whippet/Greyhound lurcher. He's crying at night, so she's getting him a Comfort Pal ... a cuddly dog with a heated pad and a heartbeat! They collected him on Sunday and her FIL died on Monday, so it's a bittersweet time and nearing the end of a pretty sh***y year for her, in many ways. I've offered to house/puppy sit on the day of the funeral, so at least I'll get puppy-cuddles.
Yola/Emma - hope you're both feeling much better today.
Hope everyone has a lovely day. I'm hoping to get my garlic planted but there's no rush; it'll wait a week or two if necessary

Morning DM.
It's brighter here now but when I took Ceilidh to school the fog was thick. I hate fog! dont mind driving in snow, hail, rain or sleet but I hate fog!
It's alot colder as well. Suppose we should be getting it cold now really.
Dont have any plans for today exept doing some ironing and cleaning out the litter tray. Oh lucky me.
Have a good day all. For thoes under the weather, stay under the duvet.

Re: Daily thread - Wednesday

Feeling better today - the cold seems to be abating and my face doesn't look as scaley due to constant nose blowing OH has gone to Godalming or somewhere similar to pick his car up from it's service (he takes it back to the garage where he bought it), he'll be pleased to have that back.

It was quite overcast in town this morning, but out here in the sticks it's bright with a slight mist. Freezing though!!!

Re: Daily thread - Wednesday

Morning girls!

DM- You have just reminded me, can you remember last year we decided to knock out the fireplace in one of our rooms? We looked at log burners, but decided we'd leave it until next winter, which is now! Maybe I should talk to hubby about getting a log burner now & finishing off the fireplace & we can spend our winter evenings in that room. It is getting very cold now at night.

Today I have a lady comig to view the B&W kttens (snowy & sooty & spot!) & I was due to collect a mom with 3 kittens from the vets later, but something fishy going on there & I don't know if they are still coming in!

I'm going to wash all my dirty vetbeds today, which takes forever & I've actually started using shredded soft paper now as it's obviously disposable. (it's not paper, but it's like shredded tissue, it's lovely & warm)

Think that's it! Oh I lost a lb at fat club yesterday, it's a slow process this weight loss thing! But fatty club teacher said "it didn't go on overnight - it won't come off overnight" she also said "these little lbs add up & before you know it you've lost your first half-stone"

Oh, go for it Smudgley - your cats will thank you! Seriously, it's so luxurious, cheaper than you think and very cheap to run - it will bring your gas bills down.

We had one in our old house, but have lived here for nearly 3 years now & never had a fire (of any description) here. John can get wood no probs. Ooh I must get onto it, otherwise another winter will have been & gone..... might just go & sort that room out a bit (it's full of charity shop stuff what folks keep giving to me)

Re: Daily thread - Wednesday

Afternoon! Finally an all day steady rain, badly needed! But too yucky to go out, so skipped the market; turned cooler, only 17C now. Hope Onyx will come for lunch!
The roofer never came yesterday; waiting for material, so suppose I still have opossums in the porch roof!
Leia's tunnel came, and she loves it! Have posted pics ....
DM: to answer your question of yesterday, the Mid Atlantic and parts of the South have experienced unusual drought, as has a lot of the West Coast. Midcontinent is mostly OK with rain; Texas and the Pacific Northwest have too much! Very weird weather! It's a La Nina year, so supposedly we'll have a milder than normal Winter...hope so!
Sorry about all the colds going around, take care of yourselves!
