Remembrance Sunday; The Cenotaph

Is anyone watching the remembrance parade on BBC2 now or watch it today live.....I must say the band music really has started to get to me in recent years....mind you there are bands then bands and there had to be about 2000 bandsmen playing there today together...that is some sound.
Waiting for the March pasts now.

I was like that at church this morning, the hymns chosen kinda got to me, and those words 'they shall not grow old as we that are left grow old etc' always brings a tear to my eye! We owe a debt that can never be repaid.
Thinking of all our servicemen and women today.

Re: Remembrance Sunday; The Cenotaph

It's Veterans Day here, and I got all teary watching the service at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington Cemetery. Churchill said it about the RAF, but I think it applies to all our brave service members, living or dead:

Never have so many owed so much to so few.....

Yes, it's all so very close still. Having lost most of my family (of my parents generation) to either German or Russian attack in WWII, AND having spent the weekend with my Mum just now, it really does feel like I know the people that perished so long ago. I've also just been reading some articles on the BBC website; very moving.

Did anyone see 'My boy Jack' on TV last night? That really got to me, only 18 years and 1 day old. Had to grow up before his time.
