Thursday Daily

No thread yesterday and none up yet today

Right, did the school run.

When I got back I had an email from Sean . So glad he's ok but very busy (whatever that means)

Ceilidh is going to a friends house after school so I have quite a bit of time alone today .

I'm waiting for Argos to deliver a Mummy make me better doll as part of her Christmas. Hehe that's going to be fun.
That's it for me. Quite boaring really

Re: Thursday Daily

Afternoon, Jac! Where is everyone? I am snowbound!! Or more correctly, ice-bound. We only got a little over 2", but it turned bitterly cold last night, -8, and everything froze solid! The streets are a sheet of ice...my residential road was neither ploughed nor gritted, and as this is a bus route, they aren't running! My neighborhood is hilly, and when the streets are that icy they just re-route the buses, so I cannot get out!! I won't risk walking two blocks away where I could catch it as the sidewalks are treacherous also...too many people haven't shoveled or sanded, and I don't want to risk a fall. And to top it off, I went to get my ice melt for the front steps and discovered there was hardly any left (stupid me!_), so had to use some of Leia's litter so I could rescue the newspapers and feed Onyx!
Bless her, she was waiting confidently for me and her warm meal! I am going stir-crazy being stuck indoors for the second day...please send melting vibes, people!!

Sorry you're on the receiving end of such cold weather. I hope the gritters reach you soon so that you can get out. Until then sit tight! like you, I wouldn't risk going out in such treacherous , icy conditions.

Thinking warm thoughts for you, take care.

Re: Thursday Daily

How odd - the Daily Thread didn't show up on my 'view new posts'. I don't usually go looking in each individual sections due to time restraints!

Still - it's here now, that's the main thing

Filthy wet, windy weather here. Now the thermostat for the heating has packed up so it's boiling hot and I've had to turn all radiators off Thankfully that IS still under warranty.

My Mum's still here with us as tomorrow we are all trooping off to see Dominik's nativity play (OH's older kids are coming too). I'm quite excited

Am off shortly to cook the dinner; cubed, roast potatoes, pork chops and warm, grated beetroot, Polish-style.

Indeed yes, Jac! I always keep a decent backup of things just in case of weather like this! The larder, freezer and liquor cabinet are well stocked; only thing I really need is greens, etc for salad, but can do without that, although I do miss my salad! And plenty of cat food too! It's up to 0 degrees and melting some now, especially on the sunny side....unfortunately my house faces North... .

Why is everyone ostracizing us today???

Re: Thursday Daily

Hiya all I have been really busy today...sorry. Apologises offered.
I have been at work, really busy. Wrote out with Ferlynn 215 peoles menu choices for the Christmas Sunday written them on little Christmas cards so we can give them to people as they come in and then they hand them to the waitress's so they know who is having what at each table. Hopefully a good working plan. Fingers crossed. Also worked out what prizes we will have, each person as they enter gets a raffle ticket, then our Our General Manager chooses a raffle ticket from the tub and that person comes up and chooses a "nativity" box 1-24 and various gifts behind the numbers...anything from a 26" flat screen TV with freeview and a DVD player to a balloon and inbetween anything froma bottle of champagne to a pamper day or 007 day to a DVD player.....So fingers crossed it works well.

Oh had my hair cut and coloured tonight too. So all systems go.

Karen
