Heartbreak and families

Well do you all recall me telling you about a chap at work Lee whose Mom who died on Sunday. Speaking to him today he has discovered it seems his Mom "lent" his brother £2,400 to pay various bills, and his sister £2,300 to pay rent and various bills. Oddly enough all this happened since his Mom went into hospital for her leg amputation and without his Mom, or siblings saying anything to Lee. It came about last night it seems when Lee (who is a single parent and a bit hard up always ) said to his brother at least Mom (who had no life insurance) had saved money for her funeral to be the way she wanted it she told Lee always she had £5,000 put away for her funeral so she could have what she wanted and they could all have new clothes etc for the funeral and they "she and his Dad" could have a nice headstone. "His Dad had made herpromise when he had been poorly never to spend money on a headstone for him but to bring the children up and feed them and she had "followed that wish" but her wish was for them to have a joint headstone. Her way around it.

So seems his brother and sister have benefited from the money and when Lee said you'll both have to pay it back - they both said "we signed no loan agrement with Mom" Now Lee thinks they have "taken" the money,.....families eh.

What a shame. Money eh?

Death always either goes one way or another. Brings families together or tears them apart. Normally over money.

What should be a time of togetherness and mourning turns into a family breach....over money... Greed is an ugly emotion, isn't it....

That is so sad It always amazes me how normally OK people can turn into greedy idiots when it comes to any possible inheritance

Re: Heartbreak and families

oh thats terrible.
i remember when my dad died, we got the call from the hospital and was there with in an hour, my step sister wouldnt break off her holiday, bearing in mind she was less than an hour away. it was up to my brother n myself to make all the arrangements. my stepsister was still on holiday, it was then we found out that she had been stealing off dad, charged him 5 quid an hour for cleaning, and if they did him a meal they charged him for that!!!!
she kicked off at the funeral. ppl where walking off shaking thier heads.
when my bro n myself where sorting out dads place, she was on the phone demanding stuff, its a shame really the valuable tea-service she was after had a few bits missing
ive decided if im the last to go all my belongings are to be sold and the moneys to be given to the PDSA. my lot are getting not a thing. thats upset them already. LOL
